Participation Requirements

July graduates participating in May commencement

To be eligible to participate in a May commencement ceremony, students anticipating a July degree completion date must complete all graduation paperwork, including a Declaration of Candidacy for Degree form, prior to the May ceremony participation deadline, March 13, 2009. A degree audit will determine eligibility. Students who are not cleared for a July degree completion will not be eligible for participation in a May ceremony. They will default to a later degree completion date and a later commencement opportunity. Exceptions cannot be made without written appeal, submitted via the Evaluations Department and coordinated with the Executive Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs.

July graduates who opt to participate in a May commencement ceremony will not be eligible for the President's Award because it is based on a final, cumulative GPA of 4.0 and cannot be determined prior to final coursework completion.

July graduates who do not participate in a preceding May ceremony are eligible to participate in the following December ceremony. Graduates must contact the Evaluations Department by mid-October to sign up for participation.

March graduates participating in December commencement

To be eligible to participate in the preceding December Commencement Ceremony, students anticipating a March degree completion date must complete all graduation paperwork, including a Declaration of Candidacy for Degree form, prior to the December ceremony participation deadline, October 24, 2008. A degree audit will determine eligibility. Students who are not cleared for a March degree completion will not be eligible for participation in the December ceremony. They will default to a later degree completion date and a later commencement opportunity. Exceptions cannot be made without a written appeal, submitted via the Evaluations Department and coordinated with the Executive Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs.
