International Student Admissions
Columbia College's admission standards are moderately selective. Freshman
international students are considered for admission based on an individual
evaluation of overall secondary school performance. Students must complete
a full sequence of university-preparatory studies that would qualify them
for admission to university-level work in their home country. Transfer students
generally are considered for admission based on completed college coursework
with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.
Columbia College offers international scholarships based on academic coursework and
test scores. Check out the Financial Assistance section for information on
costs and international
scholarships and awards.
Do I have to take take an English proficiency test?
The TOEFL or IELTS score is not
required for admission, but is used to help determine
if English instruction is needed once a student enrolls at Columbia College.
The Columbia College TOEFL code is 6095. Students with a TOEFL score of 500 (paper-based),
173 (computer-based), or 61 (internet-based), or a minimum IELTS band score
of 5.0, with no individual band score below 5.0 will be considered for academic
coursework. Students who have not taken the TOEFL or IELTS exam, or have scored
below the minimum requirements will be considered for admission to the English
as a Second Language (ESL) Program.
