Canceling a Federal Stafford, Perkins, or PLUS loan

2009-2010

  • Jan. 1, 2009: 1st day allowed to fill out 2009-2010 FAFSA. (You can still fill it out anytime after that date.)
  • March 1, 2009: Columbia College’s priority deadline for the FAFSA. Submitting the FAFSA by this date may increase a student’s chances of receiving need-based financial aid awarded on a first-come, first-served basis (i.e.SEOG grants).
  • April 1, 2009 (Missouri residents): FAFSA filing deadline for state grant eligibility. FAFSA must be received by the Dept. of Education by this date.
  • The 3rd Monday of every semester: refund checks become available.
  • If you totally withdraw on or before 60% of the semester is completed, you will only earn that percentage of your federal aid. We will have to calculate a Title IV Refund of your federal aid and a portion of it could be returned. Please refer to the Return of Title IV Funds Policy for more information.
  • Requests to cancel a specific loan disbursement may be submitted prior to the date of crediting to your account or within 14 days of notification.
