Columbia College Benefits Overview

Columbia College offers the following benefits to its full-time employees. This summary is intended to be a partial description only, and is subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Trustees. Certain restrictions may apply. Life Insurance

Columbia College provides Group life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment in an amount equal to two times annual salary effective the first day of employment. This insurance is available at no cost to the employee. Supplemental life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment are available at a cost to the employee. Dependents are eligible through age 19, or through age 25 if a full-time student. See more Life Insurance information

Health Insurance

Group health insurance is available through United Healthcare effective the first day of employment.  We offer two plans to choose from:

    Dental Insurance

    Group dental insurance is available effective the first day of employment at a cost of $9 per month.  The plan has a $50 deductible with preventive services covered at 100%, basic services at 80%, and major services at 50% with a $1,000 per person annual benefit.

    Voluntary Vision Plan

    Vision Insurance is available effective the first of the month following date of hire at a cost of $14.06 per month. The VSP Vision plan with network benefits as follows:

    Unemployment and Workers' Compensation

    Coverage is provided as required by law.

    Long-term Disability Insurance

    Disability insurance is provided after a 6-month waiting period.  The benefit pays up to 60% of your salary after a 90-day elimination period.

    Section 125 Cafeteria (Flexible Spending) Plan

    Flexible Spending Accounts: Columbia College offers employees two accounts from which to participate: dependent care assistance and healthcare reimbursement.  Full-time employees are eligible to participate after 90 days.

    Employee Educational Grant

    Full-time employees, their spouses, and/or dependent children can enroll in undergraduate courses at Columbia College 100% tuition free after 6-months of employment.  Full-time employee and adjunct faculty may enroll in undergraduate online courses 75% tuition free after 6 months of employment.  Full-time employees can enroll in graduate Courses at Columbia College 75% tuition free after 1-year of employment.  Restrictions may apply.

    Tuition Exchange

    Full-time employees are able to send their non-emancipated children to other member institutions with little or no tuition (fee/charge).  Specific questions should be addressed to Admissions.

    Retirement

    The first of the quarter following one year of service, the College will contribute a percentage of the employee's annual salary to its defined contribution tax deferred annuity plan set up under IRS Code 403(b).  It is mandatory.  The contribution percentage is determined annually by the Board of Trustees and the employee becomes vested at a rate of 20% per year enrolled.  Employees may contribute additional amounts.  The College also offers a number of alternate companies for individual contributions.

    Vacation

    All regular full-time and part-time salaried administrative and support staff employees are eligible to receive paid vacation leave.

    Sick Leave

    All regular full-time and part-time salaried administrative and support staff employees are eligible to receive paid sick leave.

    Holidays

    Columbia College observes 11 holidays for all full-time staff. See holiday schedule.

    Parking  Permits

    All employees are  issued a parking permit for their vehicle(s), at no cost,  for use in designated areas on campus.

    Security

    The Columbia College Security Department provides 24-hour a day security while on campus.

    Check Cashing

    Personal checks of up to $20.00 per day, per employee may be cashed in Registration and Financial Services.

    Facilities

    The dining facility, health center, recreational facilities, and Stafford Library are open and available to employees during regular business hours.  Charges may exist.

    Cultural Events and College Activities

    Employees and a guest may attend most Columbia College events free of charge or at a reduced rate.
