Depending on your chosen path, you might need an Undergraduate or Graduate Studies application.

After being admitted, our dedicated advisors will help plan out your program. We recommend regular visits to make sure you're aligned with program requirements.

All of the professional education courses required for any of these programs are available through a combination of online or virtual courses.

Teacher Certification Program Overview

Begin your journey to become a certified teacher in Missouri through the Teacher Certification Program (TCP) at Columbia College. The path to certification starts once you complete the core courses. 

Admission to our TCP is required for official certification recommendations to the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. The TCP Checklist shows all of the items required for official admission to the program. They include: 

  • Guideline Agreement form  
  • Statement of Responsibility form  

Students who fall into the following categories may consider the Alternative TCP Application. 

  • Completed EDUC 300 before August 2014  
  • Completed the equivalent of EDUC 300 at another institution 
  • Admitted to the Graduate-Level Teacher Certification (post-bacc) program but not yet to the TCP
