Admission Process And Requirements

Depending on the modality you are interested in pursuing, or certain programs, there are specific procedures for each.

Students seeking admission to our online program, evening program in Columbia, Missouri, or at a venue nationwide must have completed one of the following:

  • High school
  • High school equivalency test (GED, HiSET, TASC)

Step 2 - Complete The High School Attestation Form

If you have not completed this step within the application, complete one of the High School Attestation Forms to confirm you have completed high school or a high school equivalency exam (GED, HiSet, TASC).

Note: Students residing in Florida, Texas, and Washington are not eligible to complete the attestation form for admission. Applicants in these states must provide one of the following to Admissions@CCIS.edu:

  • Unofficial high school transcripts
  • Unofficial college transcript (at least 6 credit hours)
  • GED, HiSET or TASC score

All official transcripts must be provided within 90 days of enrollment. This includes Advanced Placement, CLEP, and DSST credits. Send official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar at EvalTrans@CCIS.edu or by mail: 1001 Rogers St., Columbia, MO 65216.
Certain degree programs have additional admissions requirements, and further documentation may be required.

Step 3 - Get Help Paying For College

Paying for college on your own is not your only option. Successful college students often qualify for federal financial aid and leverage scholarship opportunities.

To find out if you’re eligible for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Incoming freshman seeking admission to our day program at the residential campus in Columbia, Missouri should have completed the following: 

  • 3.0 or higher high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
OR
  • 2.5 or higher high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or comparable GED or HiSET score
AND one of the following: 
  • 21 or higher on the ACT or 1070 or higher on the SAT 
  • Rank in the top 50 percent of your graduating class 
  • Have successfully completed 12 units of college preparatory work with a grade of “C” or higher.

The ability to self-report the information below is now included on the online application. Please fill out the information with a transcript in front of you to ensure accuracy of the information reported. Please see the Undergraduate Academic Catalog for more information on self-report policies. 

Transfer students interested in our day program should have: 

  • A 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA with 24 or more completed college credit hours

Columbia College offers several certificate programs that can help you focus on specific topics of interest and set you apart in the workforce.

Applying for a certificate is the same process as applying for admission at Columbia College. You'll use the same application, just make the appropriate selection in the online form.

Step 2 - Send Necessary Documents

  • If you are applying for any certificate other than a business certificate, send one of the following to the Office of the Registrar:
    • Your high school transcript 
    • Your GED/HiSET score 
    • Your college transcripts
    • If applicable, have official score reports (Advanced Placement, CLEP, DSST) mailed.

Current high school students seeking admission to Columbia College can take classes and start earning college credit while in high school should meet these requirements: 

  • A 9th grader who has a cumulative high school GPA of a 3.0 or higher and an ACT/SAT score at the 90th percentile; 
  • A 10th grader who has a cumulative high school GPA of a 3.0 or higher; OR 
  • An 11th or 12th grader who has a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Applying for this program is the same process as applying for admission at Columbia College. Be sure to select Non-Degree/ Dual Enrollment in the Status Field

Download the permission form and arrange for it to be signed by the appropriate people.
