Dr. Lirley earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 2012 and 2018, respectively, where she also earned a Graduate Minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. She earned her B.A. from Northwest Missouri State University and her A.A. from Maple Woods Community College. Dr. Lirley specializes in the history of women and gender as well as the history of death and death investigations. She has published several articles on those topics and is currently working on a book. Before coming to Columbia College in 2018, Dr. Lirley taught at the University of Missouri and Westminster College. She teaches a variety of classes, including the U.S. Surveys, topics courses, and Women’s and Gender History courses that are cross-listed with Women’s Studies.
Aside from teaching and researching history, Dr. Lirley enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her family, including her cats.
