Purpose
The College is committed to providing a work environment that is open to the free expression of views and ideas. The purpose of this policy is to respect the privacy of other individuals in the workplace and to eliminate a chilling effect on the expression of views that may exist when one person is concerned that his or her conversation with another is being secretly recorded. This concern can inhibit an open exchange of ideas and cultivate an atmosphere of distrust in the workplace.
Scope
This policy applies to all College employees.
Policy
It is a violation of this policy to record conversations, phone calls, images, or organizational meetings with any recording device (including but not limited to a cellular telephone, PDA, digital recording device, digital camera, etc.) unless all parties to the conversation give their consent in advance. A violation of this policy will result in corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
