Public Disclosure And Licensure Information

State Authorization

Columbia College's authorization by state is listed under the state link on the state regulatory information page.

Consequences of Residency Change

Degree program availability varies by state based on state agency authorizations. Not all degree programs are available in all states or formats. As such, if a student changes their location this may impact their availability to continue in their degree program.

Students who relocate to a state where Columbia College does not meet state licensure or certification requirements for a program in a licensed career field may not be able to sit for a licensure exam in that state. Students are advised to contact their academic advisor to fully understand the impact that a location change has on the program they are currently enrolled in.

Description of Complaint Process

The process for submitting complaints to Columbia College main campus is located on the complaint process page. Information to make complaints to the state in which the student resides can be found on the state regulatory information page. Please note, that while Columbia College has a general student grievance policy, each state may have a different complaint process.

Historic Adverse Actions

Columbia College has not had any adverse actions taken by a state or accrediting agency against the institution related to distance education during the five calendar years prior to year of disclosure.

Licensure And Certification Prerequisites

The listing below details if the College has or has not made a determination whether educational prerequisites for professional licensure or certification for a specific degree program are met in each state.

Educator Preparation Programs: State authorization to provide a program related to the preparation of teachers or other P-12 school/system personnel does not indicate eligibility for an Alabama certificate. Applicants who complete an educator preparation program at an institution outside of Alabama must apply for an Alabama professional educator or professional leadership certificate through the Alabama Certificate Reciprocity Approach. Current requirements may be found at Alabama State Department of Education.

Nursing: State approval of a program to offer Alabama licensed nurses opportunities for advanced degrees does not indicate eligibility for approval to practice as an advanced practice nurse in Alabama. Applicants for approval in Alabama are required to meet the Alabama requirements for national certification, graduation from a specific-type program for the advanced practice approval, and completion of the appropriate application. Any program offering a pre-licensure track to Alabama students shall meet the requirements of the Alabama regulations for pre-licensure programs or the graduates may not be eligible to take the national licensure examination required by the Alabama Board of Nursing to enter the practice.
